IHOP

IHOP

Featured for this week’s Restaurant of the Week is the Fort Wayne IHOP.  By having IHOP as a restaurant partner, Waiter on the Way is able to deliver you IHOP’s mouthwatering breakfast anytime of the day, right to your door!  Can you imagine waking up in the morning, and calling Waiter on the Way and having IHOP at your door in 45 minutes to 1 hour?  Or how about a late dinner of a Colorado Omelette?  With IHOP and Waiter on the Way, we can make this happen.

IHOP was first opened in 1958  by Al and Jerry Lapin in the Los Angeles suburb of Toluca Lake, California and not long after, the International House of Pancakes began franchising to expand the company in 1960.

The company then in 1963 adopted the name International Industries after it acquired numerous franchised brands which it controlled throughout the 60s.  Some of these brands include: International House of Pancakes, Orange Julius, Love’s Wood Pit Barbecue, and Golden Cup Coffee Shops just to name a few.

In 1973, the International House of Pancakes introduced the acronym “IHOP” for the first time, and in 1991, the IHOP headquarters moved to Glendale, California and became publicly traded on the NASDAQ stock market.

In 2007, IHOP Corp. successfully completed the acquisition of Applebee’s International, Inc.  With more than 3,300 restaurants, the combination brings together two leading restaurant brands and creates the largest full service restaurant company in the world.

Save Money by Ordering In!

How can that be possible?

Gas is on the rise, but our delivery fee is still only $5.25!  By using Waiter on the Way, you can save both time and money by ordering in.  Think about it; if you had to get your family rounded up, drive to your favorite restaurant, wait for a seat, wait for your food to be prepared, finally eat, and then drive all the way back home.  If you notice, you just spent most of your time either driving or waiting.  With gas at $2.89/gallon, it makes more sense to enjoy time with your family at your home, save money by letting one of our drivers pickup and deliver your food, and best of all you get to enjoy your meal in the comfort of your own home while enjoying your friends or family.

Next time you think about going out to eat, think about going in to eat with Waiter on the Way.

Graduation Party Catering

Graduation Cap and Diploma

Graduation Cap and Diploma

Graduation time is quickly drawing near here in the Summit City.  Spring is here and that means college courses are coming to an end in early May, with high schools and grade schools to follow. Whether you or someone you know will be hosting a graduation party this year, we want you to know we are here for you

In our recent post, Confirmation Catering, we talked about many key factors in planing your event as well as some of our suggestions to minimize your costs, so if you haven’t be sure to take a look at that article.

Graduation is not generally a big event for grade school, however for high school students it tends to be more emotional as students enter into the real world whether it be continuing their education, joining the military, or looking for work.  Waiter on the Way wants you to enjoy this time you have with your loved ones and keep the focus on them rather then any other obligations such as food catering.  Once the big graduation party day comes, it will feel like its over in a flash if you have to “work” the entire time keeping food available, drinks cold, and ensuring that everything is setup perfectly.  Whether your catering your own event or having someone else do it, here are a few pointers to keep in mind to ensure a great day.

  • Check out the weather to plan whether your graduation party will need to be inside or outside.
  • If your party will be inside, you may need to arrange your furniture to allow sufficient standing room and space for the food line
  • If your party will be outside, consider whether you want your food outside (or in a garage) that may get warm quickly, or if you want it in your house (but then guests will be in your house)
  • If you have a spacious yard, consider renting a tent, tables, and chairs to allow guests to enjoy a nice day outdoors
  • Consider setting up games to keep guests entertained such as volleyball, basketball, or a slide show of the graduate growing up

We hope these tips help you plan out your graduation catering, and if you need any help with your catering, please be sure to call Waiter on the Way at (260) 442-3663 or visit our website at http://www.waiterontheway.biz for any additional information you may need.

How To Cater a Business Meeting

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Catering a business meeting can been much more difficult then it may initially appear.  The number of people, location, pickup time from the restaurant, drinks, personal serving ware and setting up can all play a major role in the overall presence of the catering of your business meeting.

The follow are five items that you should pay attention to when catering an event.

  1. Location
  2. The location of the business luncheon may seem like an obvious answer, however many different aspects of the lunch catering can play into a critical role.  Many offices are on a very strict schedule and lunch’s must be delivered and setup on time and in the right location.  Waiter on the Way has delivered to nearly every doctor’s office in the Fort Wayne area, and knows the exact locations and suites of where the events are being held at.  An important part of not only the location of the delivery but also the number of guests that will be attending and how to plan accordingly for them.

  3. Number of Guests
  4. After you have determined the location of the business meeting, it is good to plan ahead by contacting the office that you will be catering to, to find out the number of guests that will be attending the business meeting or eating the food that will be delivered.  Many pharmaceutical representatives have set budgets for each month and the number of people at an event can dramatically change the food that will need to be ordered and served to the guests.  A popular choice for a small group would be either smaller or half pan portions of catering entrees, and for a larger number of guests, full pan catering entrees would allow for the most cost effective way to cater the meeting.  When catering an event you should have an idea of the amount you would like to spend per guest, as this will help figure out what food items that can be ordered.

  5. Food Items
  6. Most of the restaurants that Waiter on the Way delivers caterings for offer half pan and full pan catering options to serve to your guests.  It is important to find out how many people each different catering option will feed, as different restaurants generally have different serving portions.  For an example, a half pan of pasta or salad from Casa restaurant will serve approximately 10 people, however a Fajita platter from Chili’s will serve about 6.  Generally bulk catering pans are a more cost effective way for the person catering the event and Waiter on the Way will setup the food in a buffet style so that when the event starts, your guests will be able to get the items they want with no effort on the person hosting the meeting.

  7. Drinks and Personal Utensils
  8. Something else to keep in mind when catering an event, includes the drinks and personal serving ware such as plates, forks napkins and cups to facilitate the catering.  Drinks and serving ware can easily be overlooks after primarily focusing on the location, number of people attending, and food items that will be served.  Drinks are a fairly easy to cater, however it is important to check with the office that you will be catering to, to be sure that the correct beverages that were requested will be available.  For most caterings that Waiter on the Way delivers, we usually deliver about 2 to 3 times the amount of diet sodas to regular sodas.  For a smaller group of 10 guests, 1 2 liter of diet and 1 2 liter of regular soda should suffice, while larger groups may want to include a clear soda such as Sprite or Sierra Mist and even other options such as iced tea.

  9. Presentation
  10. Once you finally have the location, number of guests, food items, drink and personal serving ware established, the setup and presentation of the catering will be one of the final items to pay attention too.  Certain office locations that Waiter on the Way delivers to wants the catering setup in a specific way, while other locations do not have a preference.  If you are catering an event without using our delivery service, you would want to communicate with the office to see how they would prefer there catering setup.  If you prefer to use Waiter on the Way, all of this will be taken care of for you.

We hope that these main points of catering a business meeting have helped answer any questions that you may have had.  When customers use Waiter on the Way, they simply provide us with the location of the delivery, the number of guests, any specific food requests, and what time the event needs to be delivered, and we take care of getting the food from the restaurant on time and making sure that everything is setup when you arrive at your meeting.

If you have any questions, please be sure to comment below and we will answer them for you.

Waiter on the Way Fort Wayne

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Welcome to the Waiter on the Way Fort Wayne blog.  This blog is designed to provide information to our customers regarding Fort Wayne Restaurants, Fort Wayne Catering Services, Fort Wayne restaurant information, as well as any news and updates regarding Water on the Way and the services that we offer.

For this first blog post, we want to give our customers as much information about how Waiter on the Way works and what the processes and fee’s are.

  1. What is Waiter on the Way?
  2. Waiter on the Way was established in 1991 to provide an easy way for customers to enjoy the excellent menu options of local restaurants without the hassle of driving to the restaurant, waiting in line, picking up the food, and bring it back home to eat.  Waiter on the Way now offers over menus from over 115 local restaurants of Fort Wayne, Indiana to be delivered for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or anywhere in between.  Derek Berkes is the current owner of Waiter on the Way and has brought the company from serving only about 30-40 restaurants to over 115 that we have at the time of this post.

Waiter on the Way delivers food for mostly sit down restaurants, however we also deliver for coffee houses and a few fast food restaurants as well.  A list of restaurants that Waiter on the Way delivers for can be visited at http://www.waiterontheway.biz/fort-wayne-catering-venue.php.  We specialize in delivering food to homes, business, hotels, office parties, business gathers, as well as caterings for any occasion.

  3. How does Waiter on the Way Work?
  4. The first step to order, for some, can be the most difficult is picking a place to order from since Waiter on the Way offers over 115 options for food ranging from American, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Thai to pub or bar foods.  We try to assist you as much as possible in making your decision by offering two easy ways to view what restaurants we have to offer, as well as that restaurants menu items.  The first option is to find one of our printed menu books that looks much like a TV guide, called “Dining In”, also we have our full menu on our website http://www.waiterontheway.biz. Feel free to take your time and browse the many restaurants we have, and you can also ask an operator for any suggestions for certain items you are looking for.

Once you have decided on a restaurant, you can place your order by either calling us at 260-442-FOOD, that’s 260-442-3663, or by creating a free account online and placing your order on our website.  Once we receive your order, it will usually be delivered to you within 45 minutes to 1 hour, but times can very depending on weather conditions and the current call volume.

  5. What does it cost?
  6. Many customers think that using Waiter on the Way might be too expensive, or take too long to receive the order, or maybe the food will be could once the customer receives it.  The answers to these questions would be WRONG, WRONG,  and WRONG :-), in fact, Waiter on the Way charges just $5.25 per restaurant per order for the delivery fee.  This means that you can place an order anywhere from our $10 minimum of food to $1,000,000 for only $5.25!  Waiter on the Way has also contracted deals with our restaurants so that we can charge the same price of the food as you would pay in the restaurant, with only a few restaurants as an exception.  We do encourage customers to recognized our drivers efforts and to tip accordingly.

  7. Where do you deliver?
  8. Waiter on the Way can deliver nearly anywhere within the state of Indiana and even Ohio, and in fact we deliver regularly to cities such as Angola, Auburn, Bluffton, Columbia City, Elkhart, Huntington, Lima, Marion, Monroeville, Muncie, Wabash, and Warsaw just to name a few. In cases where the delivery location is over 7 linear miles (as the bird flies) away from the restaurant, a distance charge will be applied to the order to help reimburse the driver for fuel and time. The distance charge inside Fort Wayne is generally very minimal and will only occur when a customer orders from a restaurant on the other side of town from their address. Regarding larger orders and orders out of town, we would request that you place your order in advance to ensure that we can notify the restaurant with a proper amount of time to cook the order as well for our delivery person to be on time.

  9. How do catering and business orders work?
  10. We can cater anything from a small get together such as a super bowl party, up to a few hundred person office meeting or pharmaceutical luncheon. We cater pharmaceutical caterings in Fort Wayne every day of the week and have experienced drivers to handle your event. Again, we do ask that you place your order with us in advance to allow enough time to ensure the food can be prepared as well as delivered on time.

Business customers who order lunch for their staff or just for themselves can generally place their order about an hour before hand and we should have sufficient time to process the order and deliver within an hour. If the order is for more then 8 people, we would ask that you call ahead again to ensure prompt delivery.
