Family Table Promotes Positive Benefits

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

When was the last time your family ate a meal together?

Family meals help to develop children who get better grades and are less likely to attempt suicide.  These are benefits all parents want – so let’s start eating together more!

Waiter on the Way is proud to partner with the McMillen Center for Health Education for a project, The Family Table. Learn more about it above and enter the contest to win a $250 gift certificate!

Increase Order Accuracy

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

From time to time, miscommunications can get made resulting in the wrong food, the right food made the wrong way, and everything in between.  Following are just a few tips and pointers when making an order that can help keep those miscommunications to a minimum.

  • Be careful not to order off the lunch menu during dinner hours, as the lunch menu items are a very different price than dinner menu items.
  • We recommend not using the word ‘sub‘ but perhaps use the word ‘instead‘.
  • Ordering extra sauces, toppings, or dressings may require an upcharge not included in the entree price.
  • Watch out for quantities.  If you want six of ‘em, put a ‘6′ in there.
  • If we don’t already, don’t be afraid to ask to have your order read back to you to help ensure accuracy.

Healthy Dining Out 101

Monday, September 12th, 2011

Dining out(or in this case dining in) does not mean you have to abandon all healthy eating habits. It is possible to find good-for-you and tasty options on most restaurant menus.

Summer barbeque chicken with green lettuce salad

Here are a few general tips:

  • Order smaller portions. Some restaurants have smaller sizes not advertised on the menu. Just ask!
  • Ask for less butter, mayo, etc. You’d be surprised how many calories you can shave off doing just that.
  • When possible, select foods that are steamed in their own juice (au jus) broiled, baked, roasted, poached or lightly sauteed.
  • Ask to substitute salads, grilled vegetables or a baked potato to replace French fries, chips or other fat laden side dishes.
  • Order “healthy, light, low fat” entrées.

You can find healthy dishes on most of our restaurant partners’ menus. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, just ask. They will be happy to accommodate you.

Here’s to healthy and happy dining!

Munchie Emporium is WhatzUp!

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Voted Best American Restaurant in WhatzUp Magazine in 2010 and 2011, the Mad Anthony Brewing Company is obviously still turning heads.  Coming in for the beer and staying for the food seems to be the case.  Whether it’s the Almost Famous Gourmet Pan Pizza or the Scooby Snacks, the awesome veggie burgers or the Politician Pizza (don’t worry — at least the flavor doesn’t lie), there seems to be something at the Munchie Emporium for everybody.  Now while we can’t bring a 6-pack of their brilliant self-brewed beer, the aroma of classic pub fare could be in your living room in minutes.
