Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Often times at Waiter on the Way, we receive many phone calls for people requesting restaurants that are unfortunately not one of our restaurant partners.  If you have a restaurant favorite and want them to be on our list to be delivered to you, be sure to let the restaurant know.  Customer suggestions to the management at restaurants can go much farther then our request with the restaurant.  So next time you go to a restaurant that you love but they are not on our service, be sure to ask to speak to the manager and let them know how much you would like for them to be a restaurant partner with Waiter on the Way.

KFC’s 11 Herbs and Spices

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

We came across an interesting article about KFC’s ingredients for the so-called 11 herbs and spices of their secret recipe.  According to Fast Food News:

Ron Douglas has been hunting down and duplicating restaurant recipes since 2003, but the latest achievement he claims is noteworthy… Colonel Sander’s 11 herbs and spices for KFC’s original recipe fried chicken.

In case you were wondering, according to Ron, you can duplicate the fast food giant’s Original Recipe chicken with this mixture of 11 herbs and spices:

  • 1 teaspoon ground oregano
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Accent (an MSG-based seasoning)

If your great at cooking, it might be worth it to take a shot at it and see how the chicken turns out.  If not, you can just order from our restaurant partner and have KFC delivered right to your door.

Sushi in Fort Wayne

Sushi

Sushi

Want to try something new this week?  Sushi and rolls seem to have a love hate relationship with consumers, but you won’t know if you like it until you try  it!

Fort Wayne has several different Sushi restaurants including but not limited to:

Popular items if you are new to sushi and rolls include the California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, Avacado Roll, Alaska Roll, and the Dragon Roll just to name a few.  The different rolls have different types of meat and then possibly some vegetables or other assortments to accent the flavor to complete the roll.

The rolls many folks order are not really “sushi” per say, but rather piece of raw fish, shrimp, octopus or other meat would be more considered sushi.  Many folks will start out on trying the rolls before trying the sushi so they can try the different flavors and decide why type of sushi might be right for them.

If your on the restaurant, a popular drink to go along with your meal is the Sake.  Sake is generally referred to as rice wine, however it is actually brewed so the process is more like that of beer.

If you haven’t had Sushi or would like to give it a try, be sure to call Waiter on the Way today and have Sushi from one of our restaurant partners delivered right to your door.

Lunch Catering

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Want to save your work or company money this year?

Most companies if not all are trying to scale back on spending, cut costs, and even eliminate positions in order to stay competitive.  Today, I will talk about one way to scale back and help cut costs for a business meeting.

Often times, many professional transactions and business meetings may take place during lunch, where the two parties meet at a neutral location for discussions.  After generally a rather expensive lunch, soda or tea for everyone, and even possibly dessert, the  bills may be split up or the party offering the sale will tend to foot the bill.  Often times, you have probably thought, there should be a better way to conduct a meeting.

As always, you would be right!  Times have changed and with the economy as it is, we all want to cut costs, even if it means changing our ways of operating.  In stead of going out for a lunch meeting next time consider these valuable tips to make you reconsider your meeting location.

By having a meeting at your office, you can:

  1. Cut costs dramatically.
  2. Have easy access to your work area and files (Computer, Internet Connection, etc.)
  3. Order a lunch catering, and have it delivered to your office.
  4. Provide a more personable atmosphere with you and the client.
  5. Eliminate wasted time in travel.

Next time you have a business meeting, think about breaking the mold of having lunch out at a restaurant, and consider meeting your client at your own office or theirs.  By eliminating travel time, drinks, desserts, expensive elegant meals, and having access to your computer and Internet, you will become a more profitable individual with less downtime, and increased productivity.

IHOP - ROTW

IHOP

IHOP

Featured for this week’s Restaurant of the Week is the Fort Wayne IHOP.  By having IHOP as a restaurant partner, Waiter on the Way is able to deliver you IHOP’s mouthwatering breakfast anytime of the day, right to your door!  Can you imagine waking up in the morning, and calling Waiter on the Way and having IHOP at your door in 45 minutes to 1 hour?  Or how about a late dinner of a Colorado Omelette?  With IHOP and Waiter on the Way, we can make this happen.

IHOP was first opened in 1958  by Al and Jerry Lapin in the Los Angeles suburb of Toluca Lake, California and not long after, the International House of Pancakes began franchising to expand the company in 1960.

The company then in 1963 adopted the name International Industries after it acquired numerous franchised brands which it controlled throughout the 60s.  Some of these brands include: International House of Pancakes, Orange Julius, Love’s Wood Pit Barbecue, and Golden Cup Coffee Shops just to name a few.

In 1973, the International House of Pancakes introduced the acronym “IHOP” for the first time, and in 1991, the IHOP headquarters moved to Glendale, California and became publicly traded on the NASDAQ stock market.

In 2007, IHOP Corp. successfully completed the acquisition of Applebee’s International, Inc.  With more than 3,300 restaurants, the combination brings together two leading restaurant brands and creates the largest full service restaurant company in the world.
